Interlacing the cards singly is exactly the part that looks effortless and takes forever to get right. A slow-motion angle on the weave would be really helpful for anyone just starting out.
The faro is one of those moves that looks impossible until you see it slowed down – the key for me was squaring the deck perfectly and applying just light pressure at the corners so the halves weave on their own. Your tutorial’s tip on cutting exactly 26 cards makes all the difference for a true perfect faro. Have you tried doing eight out-faros in a row to bring the deck back to its original order?
Thanks for laying this out so clearly — the part about “A slow-motion angle on the weave would be really helpful for anyone just starting out.” is especially useful. I’ve been sketching related visuals with AI image generation and editing while reading posts like this.
